Tokuko Dixon is a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Nevada and Co-Owner of New Way Empowerment Center. As a Las Vegas native, Tokuko is passionately committed to aiding her community in propelling to new heights through consistency, collaboration and dedication. Tokuko has worked with the diverse population of Southern Nevada for over 10 years through professional and personal life experiences, providing her with a unique outlook to meet the needs of her clients. Tokuko received her Bachelor’s in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2013. In 2015, Tokuko received her Master’s in Social Work with special concentration in Community Development and Organization from the University of Southern California (USC). Through internships and employment at a local recreation center, substance abuse treatment center, behavioral health agencies, and local hospitals including an inpatient adult psychiatric unit; Tokuko was provided with the opportunity to service populations including but not limited to at risk youth, children, adolescents, teens, young adults, adults, the elderly, families and the chronically mentally ill. During her time as a Social worker Tokuko has serviced these populations on an individual basis and in group settings, focusing on a range of matters including anxiety and acute psychosis to major depression and co—occurring disorders. Tokuko believes in working with clients from a humanistic, person centered perspective using behavior modification with a solution focused approach to address client needs, enabling her to meet clients where they are to accomplish their goals. By focusing on client’s strengths and addressing barriers clients are able to maximize results to improve their overall wellness while overcoming distress and imbalance. Tokuko is currently committed to enriching and strengthening individuals connections with family units and larger communities through education and skill development hoping to repair bonds and create new avenues for success.
